Hematology/Oncology and Other Transcription

The bulk of the transcription done at ELM is in the specialty field of hematology/oncology.  We employ expert transcriptionists who are well-versed in all areas, with a special niche in hematology/oncology.  The world of oncology/hematology has been undergoing exciting breakthroughs in testing and treatment, and ELM has been learning along the way over the last 20 years.  We have transcribed for more than 30 providers in the field of hem/onc during that time, with a wide range of ethnicity, different formatting of reports and style of dictation.  We are experienced with EHR integrated platforms, including iKnowMed, as well as digital dictation.

Overflow Assistance

If you are a transcription company or clinic in need of short-term help because dictation has piled up, ELM is here to help you get out from under and back on track.  Transcriptionists, like everyone else, can get sick and/or need time off unexpectedly.  Just a few unplanned days off without coverage can disturb the whole balance of work flow for weeks.  Additionally, there are providers who don't dictate for weeks/months, then make up all of that dictation over the course of a few days.  This also throws off the rhythm in the transcription queue, which in turn affects the transcriptionist's other providers, possibly for weeks.  ELM can help clear out the overflow of dictation quickly so the dictation queue is returned to your expected turnaround time.

ELM prides itself on being able to take on new providers with minimal training.  Just give us the required templates, specific guidelines for said provider, and a few examples and we are off and typing.  We will hand over the reins when the workload is back under control and return to help whenever needed.

ELM will work together with your transcription company for as short or as long as needed without fear of competing for your contract.

Vacation Coverage

One of the hardest aspects of working in the transcription field is taking time off.  The goal of a transcriptionist is to fill each day with work to produce as much as possible.  A successful transcriptionist has his/her desired work hours filled actively typing, as they get paid by production.  This does not leave much time to cover for a coworker needing to take time off.  Also, because transcriptionists are self-employed, there is no vacation time allotted to them.  To take time off, they must find another transcriptionist trained on their providers who is willing to take on the extra work.  This is usually possible for a day or two, but longer than that is nearly impossible.  For this reason, most transcriptionists either don't take time off or have to lug a laptop along and work during their "vacation".

With no intention of ever working directly for the client your transcription company is contracted with, ELM Transcription, with little training, can cover for one of your subcontractors while they are away.  That way the transcriptionist can enjoy time off with the knowledge their work is being done accurately and promptly and will be handed back over to them upon their return.  ELM will do exactly the amount of work assigned, leaving the agreed upon amount of dictation for the transcriptionist upon his/her return.
